I had the pleasure of visiting Melrose in Scotland today through work and couldn’t resist visiting this beautiful abbey. Fun fact – the abbey has a gargoyle shaped like a pig playing the bagpipes!

Receiving feedback on your work is so important if you want to improve. Presenting your work to others can be scary though. Drawing can be intensely personal, so it’s understandable that you might get defensive about it.

Occasionally the British weather catches you off guard and you wake up to blankets of snow. The unpredictability and extremes of weather is both one of the nice and challenging facets of living in the UK.
Occasionally too, you get an unexpected benefit from sharing your photographs on X (Twitter). GMTV contacted me about featuring this image on the Lorraine show today, so of course I had to include it as my photo of the day 🙂

A couple of days away in the fair city of Newcastle gave me an opportunity for a jog along the river Tyne. I couldn’t resist stopping to take this atmospheric shot.

There is always something new to learn when it comes to sketching. Perfection is a goal for many, but I’ve learned to embrace imperfection.

A wonderful weekend away in Lampeter for the annual Lampeter Society reunion. It’s always good to see old friends and make new ones too 🙂
