Storms are not the best environments to venture outside. However, they do present opportunities for photographers.

Photo of the day (Melrose Abbey)

I had the pleasure of visiting Melrose in Scotland today through work and couldn’t resist visiting this beautiful abbey. Fun fact – the abbey has a gargoyle shaped like a pig playing the bagpipes!
Photo of the day (Spider Bridge).
Would you walk along this bridge at night?

Photo of the day (Snowscape).

Occasionally the British weather catches you off guard and you wake up to blankets of snow. The unpredictability and extremes of weather is both one of the nice and challenging facets of living in the UK.
Occasionally too, you get an unexpected benefit from sharing your photographs on X (Twitter). GMTV contacted me about featuring this image on the Lorraine show today, so of course I had to include it as my photo of the day 🙂
Photo of the day (Fog on the Tyne).

A couple of days away in the fair city of Newcastle gave me an opportunity for a jog along the river Tyne. I couldn’t resist stopping to take this atmospheric shot.
Photo of the day (Weston Park, Sheffield).
An autumnal Weston Park, with the iconic Arts Tower in the background.

Photo of the day (Old Building, Lampeter)
A wonderful weekend away in Lampeter for the annual Lampeter Society reunion. It’s always good to see old friends and make new ones too 🙂

Old Building, University of Wales, Lampeter.
Photo of the day (Castell Allt-Goch, Lampeter)
Taken on my favourite Lampeter walk up to Castell Allt-Goch.
It’s a bit of a grey day today, so I thought I’d reflect that in the photograph. Stunning views across the valleys at the top though.

What is it about steampunk that photographers love?
I visited Papplewick Pumping Station over the weekend for the annual steampunk gathering and I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many photographers in one place. It’s fantastic to see the event grow from strength to strength over the years and explode in popularity.
Seriously, the photographers were almost outnumbering the cosplayers! So, what is it about steampunk that photographers love?
