Photo of the day (Misty Morning)

I managed to get out early this morning, but there was no chance of a sunrise shot. The February gloom persists persists, making for a grey and misty shot.

Despite the murk, I like how the mist has a layering effect on the landscape. The deeper you get into the scene the more nebulous the landscape becomes.

Every season in the UK has its own beauty.

Monochrome sunrise

It seems counter-intuitive to take a sunrise shot in black and white, rather than colour, but it’s always good to experiment.

Seeing things in a different way is what can make a photograph stand out, after all. Black and white is great for stripping a photograph back to simplicity. What do you think?
