What does a ‘typical’ training week look like?

In six weeks time, I’m hoping to do the Sheffield Half Marathon. I’ve decided to do a weekly vlog to record my journey and hold myself to account.

Here’s week five’s vlog which provides a spotlight on what a ‘typical’ training week looks like. This is my personal journey as I reach the halfway point in my training.

“Typical” is a questionable word, and you’d be justified by challenging it. Any training programme needs to be tailored to the individual to a certain degree. When I use the term here, I mean for someone over 50, like myself, who has to weigh up the types of activity you include and build yourself up incrementally.

Having said that, though, there are common threads that run through most programmes, such as long runs, gym sessions, and rest days.

Here’s a copy of my full ten-week training programme. I hope you find it useful and it provides you some useful pointers if you intend to do a half marathon yourself 🙂
